Our first crossing was supposed to be easy but as you can see the bridge wasn't high enough for the volume of water. The ice and water had pushed the bridge of its moorings causing it to list. We took off our boots and rolled up our pants to walk across the bridge. The water was ice cold!

The trail was not as snow covered as we expected and we were able to proceed without snowshoes. It was very wet in spots and we were thankful for the many boardwalks that had been installed by the Killarney Park Staff.
Our first stop was at Lumsden Lake. The scenery here was absolutely stunning. There is no other place like this. The combination of the type of rock, the trees and the water/ice is truly spectacular. Brian takes a moment to rest on the rocks and enjoy the sunshine and view.
Making a hot meal is always a treat when backpacking.
Brian enjoys his supper.
On Saturday morning, we were awakened by the howling of a wolf. We crawled out of our tents and were surprised to see a pair of Wolves on a nearby ridge. They were watching us watch them. It was really a special experience.
On Saturday, we headed up one of the mountains.
As you can see, the climb was very rugged.
Brian and Kathy are smiling because they made it to the top and are taking in the stunning vista pictured below.
The afternoon sun was really warm. Brian and David took a few minutes to lay back and soak up a few rays.
As the sun began to drop, the group got busy preparing dinner.
On our decent from the ridge, we had to climb down a chimney. It was very narrow, so we passed our packs down one at a time.
The scenery in Killarney is stunning. Once you have been there, you know you have to go back. It calls to you. It reminds you that our existence is really very fragile and that nature is a delicate balance. It also reminds us that nature is worth looking after.
